Gossip – The Northern Link UG. The name Benon Enze is not really a new name in and around Arua city. You may most likely have met him as that soft spoken radio presenter playing you the cool hits, while someone else could recognize him as a rapper. Well, Enze is a personality who has ventured into a number of paths mostly as a result of a burning desire to try out new things.
However, Enze had never considered taking the music aspect seriously until the lockdown in 2020 when he developed an intimate relationship with music. Benon went on to record ‘Anyira day’ targeting the life loving youth which received mixed reactions and another single ‘Cikili’ that grabbed the attention of traditional music lovers.
The year is 2022 and the former media personality is taking on music at a professional level. He has unleashed a brand new song ‘Arua city’ featuring legendary singer Endy Joe, formely of Buffalo camp.
In it, Enze opens his verse by recognizing the fact that his home Arua has been granted city status and so he is pointing out the struggles of living in Kampala as opposed to how better it would be among his own people in Arua. He throws shout outs to the people, asking them to embrace the city and give it their all in the struggle for survival. Enze goes ahead to remind the people of how far they have come ever since the times of Kony and the Ombaci massacre plus how they used to be considered a backward region which will no longer be the case with the coming of the city. He gives examples of signs of a city such as the two football clubs and modern forms entertainment.
He concludes by asserting strongly that Arua can no longer lack good music since he is around for a good time.
Endy Joe equally does what he does best on the hook, coming out on top with high pitched vocals as he waves goodbye to Kampala since Arua can now accommodate him.
Asked what his plans are for the industry, Enze says he issimply about doing what needs to be done with the music.
I am putting this out hoping the people will love it. I intend to shoot a video for it as I unleash out my ‘West Nile’ E.P then have a long term strategy for sticking around the industry.
said a beaming Enze.
With a beat fusion of Afro and little touch of rumba spiced up by the beautiful instruments played from Shortcut records, this song in picture is definitely a tune for any pair of ears. Listen here.
