South Sudan beat Uganda Cranes 1 – 0

Gor Mahia star Tito Okello Odong scored the only goal of the game as Uganda Cranes were frustrated to a 1-0 defeat by Bright Stars in Monday’s 2021 AFCON qualifiers played at Nyayo stadium in Kenya.

Okello separated both teams at Nyayo stadium with his lone goal in the 35th minute from a penalty kick following a foul in the box from Cranes defender Halid Lwaliwa.

Uganda Cranes had Khalid Aucho sent off for a foul in the 32nd minute before Tito found the winner for the Bright Stars who also lost Musa Abdallah after he was sent off following a foul Emmanuel Okwi in the 80th minute.

Cranes’ best goal scoring chance came in the second half when Farouk Miya’s free-kick hit the upright and bounced off the line.

The result saw South Sudan register their first win in four games as they claimed their three points to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Meanwhile frustrated Uganda Cranes trail in the second spot with 7 points in 4 games played and will face Burkina Faso in March.

Malawi 0-0 Burkina Faso.
