Vipers unveil Brazilian as new head coach

SPORTS | THE NORTHERN LINK UG | Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC have unveiled Brazilian Roberto Oliveira as their new head coach.

The development was confirmed on Friday morning by the club President Lawrence Mulindwa at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

He replaces Fred Kajoba who resigned from the role in May this year to concentrate on his goalkeeping role on the Uganda Cranes team.

Oliveira will be assisted by Marcelo Cardoso at the four-time Uganda Premier League champions. He put pen to paper on a three-year employment contract.

The former Gor Mahia and Rayon Sports coach appointment ends speculation concerning former KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi who was expected to take over the Viper’s top job.

Oliveira becomes the fifth foreign coach in Vipers’ history to handle the club after Ambrose Chukuma (Nigeria), Miguel Da Costa (Portuguese), Espinoza Martinez (Mexico), and Michael Na Ouma.

The Brazilian is a former player at Fluminense, Flamengo, Palmeiras, International, Sport, Atletico Mineiro, Grossembacher all of Brazil and Portuguese side Nacional as well as the Brazilian national team.
