Youths in Arua District Demand 40million Compensation for Voting NRM.

The youths in Arivu sub-county in the newly created Arua district are have tasked the NRM leaders to pay forty million shillings in appreciation to their continuous support rendered to the NRM government over the thirty-five years in power.

During a victory party Organized by the Youths in Eceko Parish in Arivu sub-county Arua district for the NRM Party, the youths expressed the desire to have some extra support from the party which they said is to enhance their livelihood programs such as Apiary, acquire culture, and other business-oriented projects that have been never received any support from the government.

Edomasia Ramula 26years resident of Eceko parish under Arivu sub-county says since Vura was curved out they have never voted for any party and so they deserve appreciation.

“We have done enough for the NRM government but we have never benefited from it. It’s the right time for us to also get something and begin improving our status in the various groups we have formed.”

The advisor of the youths in Eceko Parish Odama Jafari Abad in Arivu sub-county equally said the support for the party has started reducing due to no direct benefit.

“most of the youths in this Parish have tolerated a lot and others have started siding with the opposition just because they feel things have remained the same though NRM has taken all the positions the support has started reducing.”

Meanwhile, the state minister for internal affairs Obiga Mario Kania who is also a member of Parliament Terego East constituency expressed that the youths have meant a lot in keeping the party strong in Vura and so they deserve it.

Obiga however added that the party will never be taken off in West Nile as it has continued to fill in elective positions.

“We are the party for all, we care about the young the old, it’s only through this that the community plights are heard and paid attention, Am grateful that your pleas are at the right time and you will be answered,” Kania added.

However, due to a lack of motivation by the party for the youths, many have started joining the opposition.

The Regional NRM cadre Coordinator West Nile Atabua Saiddhi Omar said it’s a surprise to see opposition candidate in the presidential race scoring up to seven thousand (over 7,000) votes in the district.

“Opposition had never got any vote above Two Thousand as we believed the new Arua district is pure yellow but we shall investigate.”

In the recently concluded presidential and parliamentary elections, the Arua district voted all NRM candidates meanwhile the Woman Member of Parliament went unopposed.
